I learned long ago, covering the ethnic cleansing and genocide in Bosnia, never to equate victim with aggressor, never to create a false moral or factual equivalence, because then you are an accomplice to the most unspeakable crimes and consequences.
I believe in being truthful, not neutral. And I believe we must stop banalizing the truth.

– Christiane Amanpour – Journalist (CNN)

This quote was taken from a speech shortly after the 2016 presidential election. It highlights what I feel is the great challenge facing reporters in the Trump era, the tendency towards false equivalency. Far too often those whose job it is to report on the facts misrepresent them, and completely water down the issue at hand. While being truthful happens to be politically inconvenient for some, it is the job of an honest journalist to stand up for what is right and just. The tenets of truth and honesty must be defended rigorously under these circumstances, and that is what I aim to do with this site, by presenting my interpretation of events unfolding around me.

I’m simply a tech geek by day with a loud progressive mouth in the evenings, who likes to cherry pick on the hard work of journalists and share my opinions. I have been engaged in politics for the better part of my adult life. Though I have a clear liberal bias, I always try to see the big picture of what is going on, and I value facts, reason, and logic above all when it comes to politics. It is through that lens that I view the world, and will attempt to present my thoughts to you, the reader. No attempt to be ‘fair’ or ‘balanced’ will be made. My only obligation will be to share what I come across, and perhaps start a discussion.

We’ll be the champion of facts and the mortal enemy of innuendo, speculation, hyperbole, and nonsense.
– Will McEvoy – The Newsroom (TV)

Out here in my progressive bubble, I’ve been blinded to the resentments that have paved way for the Trump era. I’m willing to acknowledge as much, but will not give one inch when it comes to being honest and standing up for what is right. I urge everyone out there to take a stand for goodness and decency. I know that I will!
